What "Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi" Means on Sunday Night

I've been working for almost 24ish years now in the Corporate and Sunday night always feels the same all these years --- saying goodbye to the weekend that was and counting the days till the next. It means back to the world of working again and doing the daily grind. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I am ungrateful, in fact I am grateful because I have work and I somehow do the things that I am passionate about and most importantly it pays the bills.

I am thinking that as an adult, there's still that child in me wishing to play more, bathe longer, stare more, do nothing, and indulge more on a worry free day. That's what weekend means to me. It is sacred. Especially now that I work as a Consultant and unfortunately, it doesn't come with paid leaves. No work, no pay. So work, work, work.

I got used to it already because it's been a year of corporate consultancy. I wish there are leaves to take.

I remember my corny joke years ago - "Buti pa ang malunggay, maraming leaves!"

It's been a year now since I heard the song of Bini - "Huwag muna tayong umuwi.." and it hits home. It's like I am on a vacation and it's time to go home which is the sad part.

Sundays means going back home to work and saying bye bye to the mini-vacation aka fast weekend.

Let me sing this song in my mind.. It somehow calms me because it has a different meaning for me.

Huwag muna tayong umuwi (oh)Dito muna muna (oh)Huwag muna tayong umuwi (oh)Dito muna muna (oh)Huwag muna tayong umuwi
